Check In + Checkout

Welcome to Pleasant Cottage!

The cottage is equipped with an August smart lock, and a unique code will be assigned for the duration of your stay. This allows you to check in and out independently at your own convenience. Please use the door beside the driveway to enter and exit. See below for detailed instructions on how to use the smart lock. If there is a malfunction with the lock, please contact us for emergency access to a physical key 24/7 at 734-273-9532.

Check in time is 3:00 p.m., and Checkout time is 11:00 a.m. - this means that your door code will activate at 3:00 p.m. on the first day of your stay, and will deactivate at 11:00 a.m. on the last day of your stay. Guests staying past checkout time will be assessed a $50 late checkout fee (We need time to prepare the house for our next guests, please be considerate.)

When checking out, please close and lock all windows and doors, and turn off all lights. Please be sure any dishes you have used are washed, dried, and set beside the sink. There is a drying rack available under the counter and dish soap and scrub brushes by the kitchen sink. Failure to leave dishes clean will result in a $30 surcharge.

If you have logged into the Peloton or any streaming services on the television, be sure to log out. Check all areas for any personal belongings you may have left behind.

Using the August Smart Lock

To unlock the smart lock from the outside, enter the code you have received via e-mail or Airbnb/VRBO message, followed by the red button.

The lock may take a moment to open - you can listen for the sound. To lock it from the outside, just hit the red button. If the door is not fully latched, it will not lock.

To lock or unlock the smart lock from the inside, simply turn the black cylinder on the inside of the door above the doorknob. Please do not use the lock on the doorknob itself, this interferes with the smart lock.
